A Normal Monoguy

1. Firstly we need to backup all data such as contact, sms and calendar by telnetting to the E680i and typing the following command line:

# tar cvfz /mmc/mmca1/sysDatabase.tgz /ezxlocal/sysDatabase/*

You will get a file named sysDatabase.tgz in your SD. We can also keep this file for later use if we want to. I will post now what you need to do to restore your data.

# cd /mmc/mmca1; tar xvfz sysDatabase.tgz
# cd /mmc/mmca1/ezxlocal/sysDatabase
# cp -varf * /ezxlocal/sysDatabase/
# rm -rf /mmc/mmca1/ezxlocal

So you will get your contact, sms, mms and calendar back.

2. Do the master reset

3. The first thing you need to do right after master reseting your phone is to Install Linloader
- copy the following 3 files to the folder /diska/.system/QTDownload/loader/

lin_loader loader.png loader-sm.png

- copy test.lin to

/mmc/mmca1/

- Edit the file

/mmc/mmca1/.system/java/PlugCardDB

by putting the following code in

[AppLinkRecord100000101]
AllPosition = 200
BigIcon = loader.png
Directory = ../../../../diska/.system/QTDownLoad/loader
Exec = lin_loader
Group = 3
Icon = loader-sm.png
InstalledDate = 2006/3/3
JavaId = -1

Position = 1
Rotation =
Shared = 0
Size = 24K
Type = 4
uid = 100000101

- Change the order of program icons or restart your phone to see the
- Change the Type in PlugCardDB code to be 2
- Try to run the test1.lin with Linloader (the yellow round with ! or a dark green arrow down)
- If thing goes right, you will see the file test1.txt in your phone memory.


4. Install MPKG Installer by clicking on MPKG.lin once. You will hear a chineses sound and if you change the order of the program icons you will see a new program installed.

5. install ekonsole, linzip and ezxeditor.

6. Restore your phone data as shown in #1

Note that: After you have done the master reset with the previous process,  all e-mails will be lost. One good thing is that all applications installed in the SD card will not be removed. So you don't need to reinstall them.
